/sci/ - Science & Math

Hey /sci/. I have been thinking, and I'm considering changing my major from music to cosmology. Maybe somewhere along the lines of the big bang, black holes etc.

I'll spare myself all the embarrassment of trying to explain anymore, because I actually know nothing of it, but I'm incredibly fascinated by it. So I come to you, /sci/, to ask where to start. What are some good book to read? What good articles, videos, and whatever else. Pl0x?

That's no moon.

In order for the Death Star to destroy Alderaan in the way depicted, it would have to put out energy roughly equivalent to that given off by earth's sun over the course of several minutes. In point of fact, a much smaller energy blast would have scalded the planet's surface into lava that would take decades to cool and solidify, which would have let the death star fire more quickly.
