Why are most physics books dull and austere ?

Science virgin here
How exactly do I get into physics?
I tried khanacademy but it's not really doing it for me. It works well for math but I dont feel like I'm learning anything substantial when watching most physics related tutorials

I'm an autistic(autism 2) 13 year old that is trying to take advantage of brain growth by putting essential skills for physics(mostly math) into my brain so I can get a PhD in physics. I have basically unlimited resources because my mom is a calculus teacher in community college, my brother didn't give the school his physics book back, etc. What can I do to increase my skills for visualizing, and also skills for remembering algorithms, or anything else useful in physics. (possibly put a house plant in my room to increase the ratio of oxygen compared to co2?) All suggestions welcome!

Hello /sci/
So I'm starting a mechanical physics course in the summer (1st one in the physics series, goes mechanics/electromagnetism/modern) and was wondering if you guys had any recommendations to get prepared for the class. I just finished calc 2, and I know there won't be anything on there that is higher level than that, so really I'm just looking for conceptual stuff. I only took 1 regular physics class in high school, and the teacher was rather boring so I never really caught an interest for it until recently. Appreciate any pointers you guys have.
