>start going through section on line integrals in maths for engineers and physicists textbook

Is this normal? I want to feel like less of a brainlet but studying maths with no purpose is boring.

How do I turn myself in to an uber hardworking person? I don't have ADHD or anything like that but I procrastinate everything to an incredible degree due to lack of interest or immediate needs.

How do I stay inside learning or doing nerdy shit when it's summer outside and everyone is having fun? And I live in Britain ffs! If I lived in California I probably would have failed university due to this. I know I am an ugly nofriends loser who won't enjoy being outside but I still can't convince myself to work hard

And don't say stuff like "you should've taken xyz courses". This is the UK where you pick your subject as a dumb 17 year old. You have to trust universities / teachers to give you good advice...But obviously nobody tells you the hard truths, such as: places like Oxford / imperial / UCL have curricula that have ten times more packed in to them compared to lower ranked unis.

I initially disliked the clueless dilettante naivety of the babies on /sci/ but what I see in real life is more demoralising. On sci you get clueless 15 year olds asking dumb questions about maths or physics. In real life you realise that people consider it worthwhile to spend their time in university learning about engineering shit like choosing pipes with good wall thicknesses. 4-5 years of this shit just for engineering jobs! Holy fuck, I would gladly choose pointless shit over this. I now have more respect for arts students than engineering students. I now feel happy reading the dumb questions on sci.

I think I've lost all respect for almost all " education". Engineering degrees are not worthwhile. If you give someone a non-rigorous education all you're doing is reducing their future options. A physics student could do any type of engineering research but an engineering student can't do vice versa.

There is definitely no dignity in education for employment's sake while having any pretence of academia.

Please answer the questions I ask myself all the time in my head.

Do STEM PhDs need tonnes of creativity, or is it hard work? Also same question but for being a regular lecturer/researcher/professor.

Are these mythical genius physicists/mathematicians mostly just people who are inordinately interested in physics, rather than having inordinately powerful brains? Obviously you have a few like von Neumann who are geniune geniuses.

How many papers should lecturers be publishing every year? I know there should be no answer.

Are maths courses basically useless for almost all non-academia jobs after Calc 1-3, linear algebra and basic stats? IS vector calculus (i.e. div, grad, curl) close to useless outside of academia?

What is the point of doing an engineering bachelors and then engineering phd when you could be doing a physics/maths bachelors and then engineering phd? Surely the second way gives you a better fundamental knowledge? I am just not seeing any use for my engineering degree. I picked it as a dumb 18 year old and I feel like I've been robbed of a real education. My degree is not practical in any way but it isn't rigorous theory either.

And finally and most flippantly: Be honest with me m80s, physics is surely full of BS, right? I see snippets of it on /sci/. How the hell can you tell what happened so long ago?

And actually finally: I read about a lot from pop-sources that people bring complicated maths in to economics in order to justify bullshit. Is this the same for physics, or do they have some sort of symbiotic relationship?

chem 1 was pretty shitty

chem 2 is more fun just because there's calculations now

>take chem 1
>learn about all the new concepts and formulas
>learn how formulas are applied
>study for tests expecting to solve shit
>it's all just conceptual shit

Why can't I write for shit, or correctly interpret a classical novel to achieve passing grades on exams?

Please help me /sci/

Prisoner A is elected to count. When he gets in the room and sees the light on, he counts one up and turns the light off. If the light was off, he does nothing. Once he counted 99, he knows 99 prisoners have been there + himself = 100, so he informs the warden. Every other prisoner turns light on, when he enters the room for the first time AND light is off. Otherwise he does nothing. Because the prisoners are chosen at random, we can assume there will be some point when every prisoner has turned the light on exactly once.

Now here's a harder riddle: How to get gf that likes science?
