I am studying forestry and environmental sciences for 5 years(masters degree).
In my country you have two secure-isa choices:either become a doctor or have a career in the military. All theater majors are facing unemployment and many change majors or do post graduates degree and phd with the hope of becoming academics and basically becoming overhyped teachers in universities which is 80 percent politics and paperwork and grading exams and 20 percent actual teaching. In my country's universities there is no research fields and no internships.
My father is an ophthalmologist and works in a small town for little hours and earns a shit load of money. He wanted me to follow his profession, but I didnt have such good grades in the final exams, and I chose my degree(I was also between geology and oceanography).I was immature then and very sheltered and made the choice uninformed.
My degree is an easy one and I am doing well, but it is boring and not what I had in mind. The subjects that interest me are wildlife management and conservation but they do not have any real application.
To be honest,I was always more interested in history, literature and music, but I never had the chance or time to play any musical instrument or broaden my mind by reading.I had to learn English which was 12 years of my life wasted,I learned more from using the internet and reading myself.I am now learning French and also go to a local school and I am learning piano and study theory books, because music interests me.

if only there were self-replicating organisms that could absorb massive amounts of carbon from the air and store it for a significant portion of time, eventually returning it to the earth in a natural, non harmful way.

Is there any way to make plants grow faster? I mean more of a practical way, e.g. best gardening practices, but I would be ok if let's say you could cross an oak with a bamboo somehow.

My master plan is to regrow a forest and then sell the wood but I can't wait 10-25 years
