I'm used to just calling it the orthogonal complement.
Anyhow, prove they're each a subset of the other.
If [math]u \in U[/math] then if [math]v \in Ker(V)[/math] clearly since [math]u \in V[/math] clearly [math]u \cdot v = 0[/math], and similarly for [math]W[/math].
Do the other one by yourself.
