So I'm interested in writing a story, and I want some /sci/ backup. The idea I got from /tg/ and I just want to know the science behind it if it's even possible. The premise on its basic level is that there was a much quieter apocalypse than ever predicted where the air began disappointing and everyone essentially choked to death and presumably the entire atmosphere just goes away. There are a few who were prepared for a shit hits the fan scenario and were able to live, but need constant air and shit.

So basically, is the premise possible? Essentially the entire atmosphere disappearing? What kind of event could lead to something like this and would it be possible to live under these conditions? What would the Earth be like?

Quick question.

Just took precalc final and there was a question where we had a graph and had to identify where it was increasing and decreasing (easy stuff).

The final decrease was from (2, -infinity), but there was a vertical asymptote at x=3. should i have accounted for this in identifying the decrease? Next to (2, -infinity), i put {x| x<3}, was that retarded?

i'm not a math head, so go light on me please.

Using the formula d = vi t + 1/2 at2 where d is isplacement in metres, vi is initial velocity in m/s and a is acceleration in m/s2 .

Given d = 4m , t = 5.7s, a = 9.8 m/s2 find vi
