I honestly think because the first thing it hit in the mainstream was something that takes a absolute fuckton of time and skill to do well, which is digital art.
I also think there is a fundamental problem in that the people making AI are fucking nerds that have never done anything in their life that wasn't tinkering with computers. A substantial number of these people genuinely think AI will be able to replace lawyers soon. Fucking lol.
