For me, it's funny seeing this sentiment.

These people seem to think that education is some kind of violation of their rights, instead of a basic, yet important set of tools that they can use later in life.

The official term is hydrofracturing, but the common term is fracking. Also "frac job" or "frack job".

He's a guy who pretended to be a time-traveler, sent back in time to get some incredibly important, toatlly obsolete electronic parts (easier to build a time-machine than to fabricate a vacuum tube, apparently).

One of the most minor reasons I don't believe one bit of the story is that the name is jacked from some short story by Stanislaw Lem.
