the parts that of psychology which use biology as their starting point are science.
The parts of psychology which do not are pseudoscience.

It's about dopamine.

Your brain uses dopamine to convey states of high motivation. These motivation states can be physical or mentally-based. Heavy problem-solving/imagining requires high amounts of motivation (as your brain is expending a lot of energy). By pacing/shaking leg etc. you're increasing your dopamine levels helping you think harder and keep focus.

And now you should understand how ritalin and adderall (which are essentially prescription cocaine) can boost attention, memory and general cognition.

>If you were really intelligent you'd work it out for yourself :D

Neuroscience and genetics are two fields which will definitely see huge advancements over the next few decades.....if you want to be on the crest of a wave of revolutionary scientific advancement those fields really look like the best place to be ;).

When i was 18 i was almost going to put down some really specific chemistry course as my first choice. I'm so glad i didn't. Went and did general science and really got a good idea for what really interested me and what didn't (it sounds obvious, but i don't think most kids really appreciate that at 3rd level you look at things in far greater detail, so even if you're super-interested in something at the high-school level it's no guarantee you'd be in any way interested in it at uni level (never mind research level).

My best advice would be to try to not limit you options as much as you can at this early stage.
