>IT'S JUST A THOUGHT EXPERIMENT, WHAT ARE YOU GETTING SO WORKED UP ABOUT?
Dude, if anyone else put out this "thought experiment", you'd call them out on peddling /x/ tier garbage. There's no evidence for it. Not as fossils, not as ruins, not even as sediment. This isn't even remotely new, either. Hell, it's not even "well Lovecraft wrote some stuff about it" old, it's fucking "the Ancient Greeks were theorizing about this" old.

If we could evolve from simple, shrew-like creatures like Megazostrodon to us then dinosaurs could have definitely made the leap if it weren't for the asteroid and pic related would be roaming the world today. It's crazy to think about.

Atheist here. I have a question, why is evolution so important? Not important in a biological sense, but in a sociological sense. Why do people care whether someone believes in evolution or not? I'm a chemical engineer. I took a class on quantum chemistry, and guess what? Most people don't care or even know about quantum mechanics. Most people don't care about string theory, dark matter, relativity, any of that stuff. So why is evolution the "line?" Why is evolution the only thing people like Dawkins and PZ Myer talk about? I don't even thnk it's that interesting. I mean, obviously it's a big deal, I just find quantum theory and fluid mechanics more interesting, and I could care less whether someone understands what I'm doing. Do biologists just have unwarranted self-importance? Why are statistics concerning evolutionary belief even relevant in political debates and the like?
