I assume OP means methods of reaching orbit, i propose the Spacejet.

Easy to make, available in short term, cutting costs enough that we can test even more things, making room for smaller experiments and leaving a bit of working room in budget and safety, and therefore in long term it opens up more technologies which are even cheaper and more efficent.

And most important, it does not require massive engineering projects costing hundreds of billions of dollars, which can fail due to lacking experience in space-building projects, which also run the risk of being made redundant by improved technology and experience (like all technology), and they would be impossible to replace as easily as spacejets or similar. This applies to all massive, questionable projects like Space elevators, Space fountains, Launch Loops or Railguns.

Anyone who actually thinks a government would dish out the manpower and money to build a space elevator needs to understand politics, economy and priorities.
