What is 'sacrifice'?

If I'd found my life not worth anything and not worth wasting any further resources on, am I sacrificing myself for the rest of the humans?

In the end biology seems to be about reproduction to as many specimens of a species as possible. So if you take that guideline/definition everyone who'd commit suicide after successfully raising children would not do anything against biology. Some species have even evolved to die after mating.

In the end there's no objective definition of 'mentally healthy'. Some centuries ago people were performing (sometimes involuntary) euthanasia on weak grandparents or handicapped children. Back then it wasn't really murder - even though they were more religious than nowadays - so why wouldn't the view on suicide be dependent on the morals of the age we live in?
