Are we really living in a 4d world?

imagine it's 2 2d worlds intersecting at a perpendicular angle to create our reality (3d, but really 4d?)

(l*w)*(l*W) intersecting essentially a + shape from the 'side', but flat from other angles. the Z axis in this equation is simply where the two x and y planes intersect.

I guess to visualize it imagine two sheets of paper (2d worlds) intersecting perpendicularly.

I don't know if anyone will understand what I'm trying to say, but it's an odd thought I had.

Also what would you name a space company that would rely on crowdfunding and collaborative group projects carried out online between enthusiasts"?

I'd love to start my own space advocacy website/organization that has regional 'locations' where anyone can go and contribute their skills to further the space movement.

I've read about two examples of crowdfunded satellites, and I'd like to brainstorm a similar concept.

My question to you guys would be:

> What do you think are some 'profitable' ideas for a crowd-funded satellite.

The example I'd like to point to is:

I'm interested in investing in stocks, and I was hoping a math or econ major could point me in the right direction.

/sci/ I am a /g/entlemen but also love science. I am going to community college right now (LOL poorworkingfag) to get a certificate in computer security then do programming.
However, I'm early in and I would like to know /sci/'s opinion on what career would be best for someone who really loves renewable energy and smarter infrastructure but likes science and technology? How do I help build the future /sci/?

tl;dr I am a 20 year old who would like to know what career would be best to combine my love of technology with sustainability and automation?

I don't usually post artist renderings of future stuff, but this is the last thing I have that is kinda sciency.

I'm out, cya.

hey /sci/, I'm considering majoring
in computer science because I am interested in it. How good is the job market? Is it so good that I would most likely get a job straight out of college? Most likely going to Mizzou fyi. How hard are the courses and is their any advice from current/former computer science students? Or should I just be a civil engineer?

He speaks truth. The only debatable thing is how long we have to get off the rock.

The sun is getting hotter as it evolves. In 0.5-1 billion years, it will have boiled all the oceans away and destroyed the biosphere. So that is an upper limit.

In the nearer term, there appear to be ice ages which have occurred every 40,000 to 100,000 years. The last one nearly wiped out our species. Even with our technology, another ice age would be devastating. Or if you believe in anthropegenic climate change, we could turn the world into a desert along similar time scales.

There are also global disasters which are improbable but could happen any time, such as asteroid impacts and supervolcanos. It would be good to have off-Earth colonies as backups in case something like that happened. (Though the colonies themselves would be far more vulnerable to extinction than the vast population of Earth.)

So I think learning to live in space is a worthy long-term goal (emphasis on long-term).

You're right. Sorry.

It will be really hard to give it an atmosphere. We'd be better just putting domes/homes on the planet and wear EVA suits when outside. Eventually we'll have huge indoor cities like in this pic:
