OP ANNOUNCEMENT:

Lads, I don’t intend for this thread to derail into nit-picking over the definition of uniformity and how to assign recessional velocity, as this is supposed to be a brief overview of cosmology and therefore will end up being an introduction for many.

This thread is supposed to be a relatively simplistic summary of the field and not a meticulously accurate description of every aspect.

I derived Einstein’s equation for an expanding universe in an approachable way, for this very reason.

Let’s all calm down and let tentative anons bring their questions forward without worrying about their posts getting lost in a sea of quasi-specialist shit posting.
