The Nobel prizes are given to those who have most benefited mankind. No mathematical theories have ever directly progressed mankind. Never saved lives, never made us more capable. I know people are going to rage at me about that, but it's true.
Application of mathematical advances have done innumerable goods toward humanity, which is why there are prizes for physics, chemistry, etc. You want a Nobel? Then get from behind the desk and out of the ivory towers, and go do some engineering (that's right, I said it).
Mathematical theorems don't improve lives. Applications of them do. Go get a Field's metal if you don't want to affect the real world.

>>God
-As anthropomorphized by man? No, for the same reason I don't believe in leprechauns or the tooth fairy. As a term for the source of everything? Sure, if you need a term for it.
>>Intervention of life's formation/human evolution by the divine or technological means.
-Divine anything = bullshit. Technologically, of course it's possible. We are intervening in evolution regularly.
>>Ghosts
-No :/
>>Near-Death Experiences in medically/mentally dead patients describing the after-life.
-These experiences are replicable in situations with no risk of fatality, such as high-G pilot training. Whenever the brain is drained of bloodflow, the experiences are common. Since it's obviously not the afterlife when the experiencer doesn't even come close to dying, why should the same experiences be heaven in NDE's?
>>Prophets; (Nostradamus, Baba Vanga, Edgar Cayce...)
-When I see a prophecy that is used ahead of time to do something beneficial, or when I read the headline "Psychic Wins Lottery", I will consider it. As long as prophets and psychics live shitty lives and write vague, ambiguous, bad poetry without any use, no.
>>Lost/undiscovered powers of crystals, leylines, etc.
-I don't know what etc would refer to. There are probably undiscovered uses for most things, including crystals. Leylines smell like bullshit to me.
>>Lost/undiscovered meritable ancient sciences concerning alchemy, occult magic, chi, religious/karmic laws, et al.
-Sciences concerning bullshit, that no culture seems to have used to any benefit, and then died out in the face of modern scientific inquiry? No.

Sociological and psychological studies show that money is rated the most important trait for raising quality of life, up to the amount that people need to satisfy their basic needs.
Once you are not living paycheck to paycheck, extra money really does not buy happiness. Much higher rated on the list: having a meaningful and enjoyable job.

Do whatever you feel like doing. As long as it pays the bills, you'll be better off enjoying it than getting rich off of it.
