I have some CS math under my belly and enough free time until I die. I want to learn as much as I can about probability, geometry, linear algebra and statistics.

I can also program in C++/python quite well and want to start with some interesting projects in my free time, because I'm bored to death lately (I have a comfy job/life/money and time and passion to waste on abstract thoughts and projects, so why not bother to make something out of it).

>What, if all things consist of substance, is the essence of a number built of?
Our a priori intuition of time, maybe. Kant fucked up when he assumed that physical space had to be Euclidean, but even Gauss agreed that, while geometry clearly has an empirical component, arithmetic may very well be "a priori" in some sense. If you don't like that explanation, you can just say numbers are an abstraction from collection of objects (e.g., three apples) or sequences (e.g., first son, second son, etc.)

>How do materialist rationalize substance in and of itself if all things are made of it, even the smallest particles in existence?
I don't think the smallest particles in existence count as matter in a strict sense. Atoms are mainly made up of void, with a small nucleus in the center and even smaller electrons all around. The nucleus itself is mainly made up of void, with some quarks in the mix. "Matter" itself is made up by the physical forces exterted by those small particles, which give rise to various kinds of attraction and repulsion. We're made, like, more than 99% out of nothingness with less than 1% of actual "matter" in the form of particles. What determines the boundary of things is just Coulomb's force.

>Does that not create an unending paradox?
How?

>Has matter always existed? If so, how do you rationalize a thing birthing itself into being?
Cosmology is unfalsifiable. I have no idea how the world came into being, and any attempt at findind out is an educated guess at best.

Hello /sci/

I said yesterday that I would come by to let you know if my divine state had subsided. I can happily say that no, it continues to be as strong as yesterday. This is day 4, I can hardly believe it.. As promised yesterday, I have bought 6kg of chickpeas, and I am currently on my way to eat a kilo of them.

What explanation could there be for this?
Would doing bloods for a hormones be worth doing?

>TL:DR
>Anon felt a sharp pain in his head and now his depression has dissipated

>Be me
>Used to depression
>Watching some youtube videos
>Suddenly I feel a sharp pain in the top of my head
>For a couple seconds I feel like nothing is real
>Things go back to normal
>The night progresses and I begin to feel pretty good
>Music starts to sound awesome
>I begin to remember things that I thought were completely forgotten
>My whole body feels kinda nice, warm and fuzzy
>Go to sleep

>Wake up the next day feeling super rested
>I am now wondering what the fuck is going on
>Go throughout the day feeling great
>It's like emotions are back in my life

>Next day, same thing
>I feel so good
>No social anxiety
>Ideas rushing in my mind
>I can visualize things like never before
>Feels good just existing

>Next day, same thing
>I now begin to worry
>I am so not used to feeling good
>I begin to feel trapped, forced to be happy
>It feels like when you are slightly tipsy
>time goes by so fast
Can someone explain what is going on with me? It's like I have been blessed by a divine force.

Hey fellow forestry student. What school?
Doesn't it feel good knowing you didn't follow the flock in other popular degrees and now the demand is so high in our field we're basically 100% guarranted a job + the salaries are going up cause supply/demand
