/sci/ am I correct in thinking that if I desire to design and implement automation (robotic kind) I should be pursuing mechatronics?

If yes, given that it's a multidisciplinary field which of the fields under it's umbrella should be studied first (weighing both it's applicability to learning the other fields and it's applicability for making money asap) or should they all be done at the same time?

>why not invest all their money towards creating more farmland so they're agriculturally self sufficient? They already know how to make islands.
Because that totally doesn't cost billions of dollars
Vertical farming would probably be cheaper
