There doesn't have to be a reason for existence of spacetime and energy. Asking why is arbitrary in the sense that "why" is a human concept to explain cause-effect but since time is thought not to exist prior to the big bang it becomes meaningless.

There appears no reason to this universe other than meaning we ascribe to it.
