It's actually the opposite. The thought experiment is suppose to show that the mathematical description of the wave function collapse isn't a descriptor for what is actually occurring. Even though the Copenhagen interpretation implies that dead/alive cats should exist, you never see one. The cat is either dead or alive, not both.

Testability is vastly more important than theory. If you can't test a theory then how can you manipulate it to be useful to us? How can it be used to further research? Epistemological limits exists.
