Name me one instance of empirical work in psychology that actually verifies a claim.

The longer this goes on, the more I get the impression that you neither take your time to even comprehend what I wrote nor have the ability to.

If you test a claim under a 95% confidence interval you do NOT prove anything. Even the number 95% is a completely arbitrary convention.

But what is the psychological question here? Dependent and independent variables, statistic analysis, hypothesis... you know... actual SCIENCE...

I didn't mind actually reading through it, but does the study make any claims about the cause of deaths?

Because overweight people seem less vulnerable to accidental death (fat acts as a puffer protecting vital organs) but have higher risk of dying from disease (heart, diabetes, etc.)

Not controlling for that would be a huge flaw.

Ekman uses 7 Basic Emotions. Anger, Happiness, Sadness, Disgust, Contempt, Surprise, Fear. There are authors that postulate less (Ekman himself didn't include Contempt in his first draft) and some that argue there are more. Note that basic emotions are the ones that are said to be innate, occuring independently of culture, race, etc. They each show a distinctive pattern of activation of facial muscles. Even in animals some of them can be found.

Now that I read it... There IS a way of differentiating emotions using only periphery physiology. Facial muscles EMG.

Social Emotions on the other hand are a completely different story. Not that much empirical data on them so far.

It's funny how everyone thinks they know what studying psychology is like.

I'm currently going for Master Degree. But I do plan on going for PhD once I'm done with that.

This shows just how wrong your concept of psychology is. Psychologists do not interact with their subjects.

While I'm here: Does anyone have a question for an actual psychology major?

Psychology is not about mental disorders.
