Hi /sci/ - I have a question

It is to my knowledge, or was, that intelligence was some thing static and you couldn't really increase it no matter how much you tried. Then it evolved to you can learn more about stuff (improve crystalline intellect) and have different mindsets and perspectives to apply it for different solutions ( fluid intelligence) howwever at different paces unique to everyone. But then I am at a crossroads of sorts. Does the fact of being a genius, barring from genetic deficiencies, or of high intelligence depend on how much you study, dedicate, and apply yourself at various subjects at your own understanding? With the results dramatically improving other intellectual capacities for yourself? Or are you still somewhat limited in what pace you understand things and are forced to always bring forth solutions at a level considered sub-par by others?

In other words, Can a normal person dramatically increase his/her intellect in many facets to degree of high intellect/genius if he takes the time, be it much more than others depending, to dedicate his whole being to it or will always have a handicap regardless to their satisfaction or not?
