We didn't evolve from monkeys, we evolved from what monkeys evolved from. Think of it as two separate twigs on the same branch.

Also as the other guy above said, evolution is not directed. A dog is just as "evolved" as we are, it's gone through a similar level of changes.

Hell, more in some cases, though that was directed evolution.

I'm just curious, why would the natural selection favor us? If it's chosen by survivability and adaptivity and ultimately reproducing, then wouldn't protists win in every field? Why do advanced life form even exist? I mean protist reproduce a lot more and faster than any other kingdoms. I don't see the point of us being so advanced yet not really that good at adapting.

Hello /sci/, I have a philosophical question for you. Do you believe evolution necessarily disproves the existence of a divine being? I am an atheist, but I don't see why the two ideas can't be reconciled. What are your thoughts?
