Proton is the problem child, Soyuz has actually been a great reliable launcher, which is why ESA built a pad for them at Kourou

That already is NASA's strategy. Just in the last month, Congress chose to cut $400 million from the Commercial Crew program, but spend $424 million to extend the contract to fly American astronauts to the ISS on the Soyuz (the only remaining human spacecraft). Totally illogical!

funny guy! the last six failures were all on Russian rockets. Their main advantage is sunk development costs from the Soviet era and cheap labor, so their prices are very low. (That said, I love me some Soyuz. 900 flights in 50 years and still going strong.)

Soyuz in orbit, docking with ISS in six hours (shortest manned rendezvous, normally it takes over a day to sync orbits).
