This board is obsessed over turning academics and academia into a sport. It mostly has to do with the “cult of genius.” For them, mathematics is how they benchmark their “inherent” talent. If they got a bad grade, then they didn’t work hard; if anyone else does, it’s because they’re inherently not as intelligent (attribution is an interesting topic from psychology). /sci/ is a testament to how stupid undergraduate students can be, to how blinding pride can be, and to how petty and emphatically uninformed “academic types” can really be.
