Yes. These are literally insane people. But they are also easily programmed by abusing their illness.

Combine that with modern propaganda, and the average person does not have the critical thinking capacity or the moral wherewithal to defeat it.

Mental illness is just like any other illness, its contagious and infectious. Propaganda is a classic cause of mental illness. If you don't have the tools to defeat it, you will get dominated by it. Thats why crazy people always double down, their ego depends on it, even at the cost of their sanity.
