whats the difference between using <span class="math"> \delta x [/spoiler] instead of dx when integrating? in my thermodynamics textbook they use

but it seems that it is handled the same as dq
its an engineering class so the professor couldn't answer me
btw it uses dx for other equations so its not just that the textbook uses different notation.

Big bang, stars, supernovas, we are all stardust, atoms get together and make molecules, molecules make organisms that actively interact with their surroundings and eventually have neurons and think.

Somewhere in there life happens. But where? All definitions are in one way or another arbitrary. We loved the idea that we were the center of the universe, that we were created for a purpose, superior to animals and that we have free will, but all these things fell.

Could it be that the concept of life is just another illusion? A system so complex, albeit made from simple rules, that we feel tempted to give it a mystical propaerty it does not possess?

I know this is a linear differential equation, with an integrating factor of .5
I get my final answer to be M = 48+ke^(-.5t)

Next, when t = 0, M = 7e^(.5t)...

Giving me k = 7e^(.5t) - 48

so to solve for M..

M = 48 + (7e^(.5t)-48)e^(-.5t)

And finally I get 55-48e^(-.5t)=M which I guess isn't right. Anyone help out what I did wrong here?
