When the next technological or scientific breakthrough requires a new type of mathematical model. Is it likely that the subject already has the underlying theory in hand, waiting to be adapted to a new setting? How long does it take for this to be discovered?

>got accepted into nearly all of my top choice colleges
>Caltech, Stanford, University of Chicago, Harvard, but not MIT
>Parents earn a fuckton of money, but refuse to support me in college, which is fine, but that means that I wont be getting any financial aid from any of my colleges
>only form of non-job financial support would be from grants, and If I go to Caltech, My #1 choice, litterally 0 aid
>parents try to keep me in a local college
>"you wont have to pay"
>"no debt"
>"stating wages are the same here as in an ivy league or elsewhere"
>fuck that, and fuck north dakota
What do I do? The cost to go to any of my top choice colleges would parallel a third of a million dollars, but I hate this god forsaken state of misery.

Is it possible to study 3-4 hours everyday for 3 weeks(with fear)?

I have an extremely important entrance exam for university.
Any tips on studying this much? It's a math and Physics exam.

Tittle.
The only way I know math is because I memorized formulas but I guess I don't tend to apply logical thinking, making it a hard time when it comes to exams that shouldn't be too hard.

Say you are going 2 km/hr slower than the speed of light in an airplane. What would happen if you got out of your seat and ran down the aisle (towards the front) at >2 km/hr?

Does anyone else feel obsessed with grades? Having had several internships and worked on research under a prof, I am fully aware that grades are not everything. But semester after semester I find myself obsessively calculating my grades before they're in. I know grades aren't a measure of intelligence, but if I ever get a bad grade I feel like its proof that I'm stupid.

How do I get hired at a tech company with a math degree?

Most tech companies require one of the below skills:

Programming Experience:
>I have elementary programming experience, but not enough to become a software developer.[taking a class post-graduation but just started].

Data Visualization Experience:
>I don't know Tableau or any other Data Visualization but can learn quickly.

Statistics for analyzing data:
>I only took a basic Statistics course.

SQL:
>Never took a data base course

Certifications:
0 tech certifications

Basically it disqualifies me from most data science, programming and analyst jobs.

I have to look for jobs in marketing, HR, tech support or positions that require a background in something.

Only jobs I'm qualified for are jobs that require no tech skills, no cert skills and 0 background. Might as well not have a degree.

Group theory, Real Analysis, Geometry skillsets are 99.9% useless to majority of companies I'm looking at.

Jobs that are qualified for are ones I don't need a degree for.

NOT trolling. ANY Advice? I'm already going back to school to get skills in those areas I lack. But in the meantime still have a useless pure math degree.
