You are right, loans can't be discharged and are permanent until fully repaid but it only costs $50 monthly in payments and I can ask for a 2 year extension. I have considered the consequences of burying myself in loans but feel my projects have higher priority at the moment. I am going for EE in order to conduct cold fusion research. Even if I fail to find any significant discoveries, at least I can get a decent job with the degree.
