like others have said there is nothing wrong with reading the books on his list, and not having read them yet is nothing to be ashamed of; you have to start somewhere

it’s a weird thing to announce beforehand since people will make fun of you, but I don’t see any actual problem with the idea of reading a bunch of easy popular books as a leisure and light self-improvement activity. in fact it’s a lovely idea, and a very typical new-years resolution. that’s why I think you’re just looking for something to get mad about
