>Why are most people lurkers?
>IRL too (uni classes for example)

I will explain you exactly why.

For the vast majority of history, as a species we simply existed like other animals. Eat, reproduce, survive. Normal. Then there was the religion and philosophy that dictated how to live. It regulated social relationships and explained unexplained, but it was still about survival.
Even the gradual improvement of the tools of killing and the ways of getting food came down to this. Every improvement was about survival.
However, somewhere in Western Europe at the end of the Middle Ages, a different approach to improvement began to emerge. Not to survive, but to improve, to check. Change for change's sake, not out of necessity. This new way of thinking developed slowly to explode with full force in the 19th century. Eccentrics, inventors, madmen discovering something became "pop stars". Thinking and discovering became fashionable. It lasted somewhere until the middle of the 20th century and became commonplace. In my opinion, nowadays invention is not fashionable, but only desirable to satisfy consumers, which means that we partly return to thinking from before this revolution, but on a different level. We expect that there will be inventions, but the people who design them are not famous, and these are just another anonymous work, which we do not admire but demand. Admittedly, there are universities, pop-culture productions promoting slogans: "all the way forward", "don't give up", "it's all up to you", "you make your way", but how many people listen to them? There is no such a push for these slogans anymore, and I am afraid that we are entering another period of stagnation, but at a higher level of development, which in turn is more difficult to maintain in case of "misfortune".

>I want to do is smoke weed and play video games.

LISTEN TO ME LAZY GOON !

UNIRONICALLY want to become a PRISONER OF YOUR OWN PROCRASTINATION and LAZINESS for the rest of your PATHETIC LIFE?

The true vocation of man is to become the best possible, and thus to embody within himself the ideal of humanity. And this ideal is focused on development - a fulfilled person is a person who makes full use of his or her development possibilities.

The sense of life is the state of perfection and harmony of thinking and action, which leads a person to the heights of his possibilities,

Modernity, on the other hand, with its apotheosis of man, has changed everything. Modern man is affirmed as he is. Already at the starting point he thinks that he is good enough and does not need development and fulfillment in his life. Otherwise, he could not be considered in his own eyes as equal to other people. Therefore, instead of overcoming himself and becoming someone else (better form of himself), he has to be himself, to be and remain who he is. For me, the value of human life is not closed in reproducing the same forms and schematics, but it requires going beyond for something new in his life.

>Will we get 'Full Dive' VR in our lifetime?

I hope WE WILL NOT EVER get it !

The fate of modern man is determined by technology. I'm interested in what prospects seem most likely to you? I can only see two possibilities: upwards or downwards.

Upward is, of course, perspective of colonization of Solar System. The American, whose name I unfortunately do not remember, expressed himself more or less like this: The red planet is our new frontier, a source of stimulation for American genius and a dignified outlet for our inexhaustible energy. Our culture grows out of the borderland and needs it, it is ours, the past, the future and hope... These words can apply to all of humanity.

Deep down, it is a further development of the possibilities offered by medicine and biotechnology. Who knows what we will eventually reduce ourselves to? The overriding law of sociology says that the vast majority of people tend to seek a rather narrowly defined self-complacency. The direction is clear: to amputate defects in our body and psyche. So why don't we end up as "BRAINS IN COMPUTERIZED JARS" bombarded forever by happiness stimulators?

Upwards, we will again become VIGOROUS and BRAVE space conquistadors. Into the depths - we will flare in the fumes of an infinite orgasm. I will give two miserable reasons to conclude on this subject in a slightly provocative way. In the book "Colossus" there is a comparison between the British and the Americans as world leaders. The former, when they had an empire, betrayed their striving for missionary work, sent their most talented (doctors, officers and administrators) to the Third World. This was an advance in the "heroic", missionary style of the 19th century. Today, the most talented Americans prefer to go into the entertainment industry, business or politics. Some observers LIKE ME see this as a clear civilisational turn towards hedonism and decadence.

No.

I'm too tied to my protein carnal shell to let myself voluntarily turn into some artificial intelligence-controlled robot.

Conception of colonization of space is the thing of past nowadays, so rather chances on Martian colony are very small.
