The real purpose of the philosophical zombie thought experiment was supposed to be exploring exactly that question: Is it coherent to talk about someone who is exactly like a normal person in every physical / physiological / behavioral way yet doesn't have qualia?
What everyone always does to ruin this thought experiment is miss the point and start talking about p-zombies as people who behave differently because they have no qualia.
But if there's any physical / behavioral difference you can point to between a p-zombie and their regular person counterpart then it immediately brings up the point that you no longer have to attribute anything to non-physical phantom phenomena because you can identify verifiable physical things that explain the presence or absence of what we're calling "qualia."
Chalmers (the guy famous for this p-zombie argument) knew this and since he's on the side of "qualia is its own extraphysical thing and doesn't reduce to physiology and behavior" his position is that the p-zombie would be actually identical in every way with their physical structure and the exact ways they behave compared to their non-zombie counterpart, and that the only difference between them would in fact be non-physical qualia itself. So in his view he'd have a zombie world clone who says and does everything he does in our world yet would be doing it all without experiencing anything.
Personally this is why I lean towards not believing qualia is a literal phenomenon of its own rather than just the awkward way we're limited in attempts to characterize our own sensory and behavioral functions. The more I get into the topic the more it sounds like it's a "limits of our own sloppy cognitive systems" problem rather than a "fundamental nature of reality" problem. Reality is probably just physical and doesn't have anything riding on what we do in the presence of sensory organ stimuli.

Is anyone else just skeptical of any studies that relate to social issues? I'm talking about Veganism/Gender Pay Gap//Climate Change. I mean I have the standard view as most people do on these issues, but I can't help but think that political pressure has forced these people to take a certain view point. If that's the case, then how the fuck can we use studies to verify anything? When people say "Look at the data", how the fuck can we do that knowing that its been tainted?

How do I know if I'm feeling confident or narcissistic? I can't tell if I'm just arrogant or the credit I give myself is legitimately warranted. Should I feel bad about feeling good about my mind?
