So where does it fail then? It seems to work perfectly fine, unless you just make up bullshit and then expect it to explain the bullshit.

Also, the arguments against functionalism dont really hold up. The Chinese room and the rest actually demonstrate how complexity leads to the illusionary perception of "mind". Again, very very complex things will appear as if they have consciousness.
