Hey /sci/, I have an Einstein question -

so Einstein said this to illustrate how light doesnt have a set speed:
Imagine you are on a moving boat. You throw a ball forward on the boat. The ball is moving the speed of the ball plus the speed of the boat, right? well what if there was a lantern on the front of the ship. Does the light emitted move the speed of light plus the speed of the boat?

Legitimately stumped, appreciate any answers :)
