As long as the distance AB>0, C moves along the bottom horizontal line.

you want a crayons-and-hand-puppets mental aid? as long as AB>0, tangent line BC hits the bottom horizontal line. So it is kind of like 1/AB gives bigger and bigger results when AB gets smaller and smaller.
But when AB=0, the tangent doesn't hit the bottom horizontal line, ie. it isn't a real number anymore. Infinity is represented by the top horizontal line. It doesn't touch the bottom one at all, ever.
