Basically, my wife is rather dull. Zero intellectual curiosity, barely made it through senior high and college despite trying really hard, etc etc. She's endearing in other ways that have much more to do with a good upbringing and general fitness. I worry, though, that our kids will be retarded too. Is this is worthwhile concern, or does intelligence have more to do with environment?

Examples of humans adapting to disease in interesting ways. The biggest and easiest example I know of is sickle-cell anemia in Africa. In populations where malaria is endemic, the deleterious effects of sickle-cell anemia don't outweigh the lethality of malaria and even bestows advantages against the latter, and so it persists. Anyone know of any others?
