They probably don't even remember how they were wrong and I was right. But it's one of my most infuriating memories

This is genuinely upsetting. Why in the actual fuck would they do this.

I don't know which to declare for the fall.

Would majoring in regular ol' physics put me into a disadvantage with people majoring in one of the more specialized fields?

So I am working through some problems in Zwiebach and I can't for the life of me understand this one.

In essence, I am supposed to write down a worldsheet action for a string moving in some background invariant under X^25, then show that by swapping the partials of X^25 with X^25 plus the worldsheet gauge field A_a (so ∂_a X^25 to ∂_a X^25+A_a) somehow makes the translations on the worldsheet local.

This is what I have so far
