I see one flaw in the scenario. Since a nuclear pulse propulsion spacecraft can travel at 0.12C these self replicating probes visit be able to establish a permanent presence in every stellar system in the Milky Way within a million years. And the chances that any two intelligent species got into space within only a million years of each other. But we haven't been hit by a wave a self replicating rvks or anything yet. So that leaves three possible hypotheses regarding the state of extra terrestrial life.

1)They don't exist, at least in this galaxy.
2)They aren't imperialist dicks than like to launch xenocidal galactic crusades. Which makes them total pussies in my eyes, and they are going to be zerg rushed by berserker probes.
3)Against all odds they are younger than us.

So there the berserker on berserker wars will probably be due to probes of human origin fighting one another. Also it seems unlikely that our descendants will just die out. More likely they will keep reproducing and disassembling planets using lofstrom loops. Then they will assemble all the extractable planetary matter into dyson swarms or space habitats.

Anywhere that resources become scarce they will fight for them and the wars that have always characterized our species will go on and on without end. At least until the heat death of the universe 150 trillion years from now. And last living thing shall be a human descendant and they will die ragging impotently into the dark.

Best future ever.
