Are you ready for a thought experiment, /sci/?

Let us hypothetically assume there is an omniscient and omnipotent being (let's not call it "god", I don't want this to be a religion thread). This being does not physically interact and does not communicate with us. Is there any conceivable scientific experiment to verify or falsify the hypothesis?

Why is /sci/ less rational and more emotionally unstable than /lit/.

Also, /lit/ is more emprical (non-austrian) in regards to economics than /sci/ is.

So I've noticed that most people I know who are above average intelligence or even highly intelligent would rather listen to overly simplistic melodies and rhythms (radio pop) as opposed to complex ones(Bach, Brahms).

Are they simply used to it after growing up in a society or household which only plays such music? Are they maybe simply following the modern social norm and in reality don't care for the music? Is it something else and these are just a few isolated instances that aren't indicitive of anything grand?

1 + 2 + 3 ... + n = n(n+1)/2

therefore

1 * 2 * 3 ... *n = n^(n+1)/2

How do you feel about this, /sci/?

He makes a good point.

Proof that the set of positive integers is equinumerous with the set of positive reals

we know the set of reals between 0 and 1 is equinumerous with the set of all positive reals, so we just have to prove a bijection between the set of all reals between 0 and 1 and the set of positive integers

let a be a real number between 0 and 1, then we have a bijection f(a) = a * 10^d where d is the number of digits in a in radix 10

f(a) is obviously an integer (it's a with the decimal removed)

therefore we have found a bijection

Apparantly, this guide managed to make

y(x) = 4x (x 2 -11 x + 30)
into y'(x)= 4 ( (x 2 -11 x + 30) + x (2x - 11) )

Is it the 4x before the parantesis that makes it look so strange? I mean, I can do some basic differentiation but his is a little above my head.
