Is there a difference between writing things as "1.0E-1" and "1.0 x 10^-1"? Are they both scientific notation?

I know that if I were to write 32000 in the second way, it would be 3.2 x 10^4, but how would it look if done the first way?

Sorry, I am dumb. I didn't think that there was a difference in the way you write it, but apparently there is.

What Einstein book can /sci recommend? I've tried looking but there are dozens of them, hard to choose the best. Did he write an autobiography?

Hey guys, look at this cool video of a girl throwing boiling water in cold air. It completely turns into gas instantly. Pretty cool.

I'm guessing it does this because the vapor pressure already equals atmospheric pressure at boiling, right. But the bottom of the container is held under the weight of the liquid. So when you throw the water, suddenly much more of the liquid is exposed to the atmosphere, causing it to evaporate at a much higher rate. Is this correct?

Hey /sci/ I have a really cutting edge scientific theory that I would like to share with you about homosexuality, hope it opens your mind, feel free to post regarding my theory with respect please.

I believe that we are all born asexual but certain words turn us straight, gay or bi. The most used words turn people straight, harder less used words turn people bi, very uncommon words turn people gay and could be in any language, once you hear the gay word you can't go back to being straight. Every different person has a different words that turn them gay/straight.

Hope you enjoyed my theory, I'm sure very few can rip parts of this very legitimate theory. I hope for this to be one day taught in schools everywhere.
