I've been on Adderall XR since I was in 3rd grade. (I'm 20 now) I feel like it's fucking me up. Anyone else take Adderall for as long as I have? Have you quit? What was it like?

How widespread is adderall at your school?

Do you know anyone who takes, or has taken it as a study aid?

What are your thoughts on the morality of such actions?

HSfag here. I would like some information about amphetamine use for doing homework/studying. I know adderall is used, but that's about all I know. I would like to know what doses and different types work best.

Possibly relevent academic stuff:
-I am smart, but often lack willpower to do homework. I have an IQ of 136. Through 9th and 10th grade I have a GPA of about 3.0. Typical report card may have two A's two B's and a C and a D. The classes I do the worst in are the ones with the most homework.

-Tests are usually easy as shit just because I pay attention to lectures, but tests are only 20-50% of your grade, depending on what class. I've fluked maybe 2 tests between 7th and 11th grade, even without touching the books sometimes, I get an A or B.

-The problem is homework, I either get distracted with friends and am too tired to stay up late, or I simply don't do the work because I want to do some other pointless shit like vidya.

-If tests were 100% of your grade I would have a 4.0, I guarentee it. I wish all classes were like this.

-I'm some kind of nerd because I enjoy math and sciences. Physics is my favorite class bar none.

195 lbs
17 years of age
Not much muscle mass, I'm a little chubby

thinking about tricking my gp into prescribing me something to help with focusing on tasks, want to know if i will eventually build up a tolerance to said drugs... not sure if adderall is allowed in australia.. whatever the aussie equivalent is I suppose

I'm going to ask my doctor for adderall today. However I'm trying to be strategic. I'm going to claim that I was prescribed straterra in college and that it didn't really help and I discontinued seeking help for my ADD after that. I'm going to build an elaborate strategy to basically claim that my "ADD" is ruining my life: I can't pay attention to anything important, I can't sit down and study, I can't keep a job, etc. I'm going to avoid asking him outright for adderall, but rather let him give me suggestions first, and then follow those suggestions and in follow-ups tell him it isn't working. I know that doctors just don't prescribe adderall without trying multiple things first, so i'm trying to build up a story and strategy to get on it eventually.

Any tips/experience/stories?

Do you use adderall/ritalin for studying purposes? There has been recent debate about the ethics of students using ritalin having a cognitive boost, giving them an unfair advantage. The studies are conflicting though, largely with inconclusive results regarding whether these drugs give you a cognitive edge or just make you feel more alert/awake.

I for one used both adderall and ritalin throughout my college career ( I wasn't prescribed it) and outside of getting me motivated/keeping me awake, I think ritalin genuinely gave me a cognitive boost. If i could describe it, i would say that enhanced the velocity by which my brain could operate, allowing more information to be processed and more thinking to be done in a given amount of time. I was scoring ridiculously high on difficult chemistry/physics exams while on these drugs, however, it may have just been placebo.

What are your thoughts?

I've just started a PhD program in engineering. I'm having a difficult time with classes, and I'm worried about failing out even though I had a GPA of 3.9 as a Masters candidate at my last university. One issue I have is anxiety on exams. I can barely focus on anything, my eyes dart from person to person, and I read the problems repeatedly but nothing sinks in.

I'm thinking of taking something like Adderall, prescribed by a doctor. Would you recommend this? I heard that in addition to making you more focused, it also improves confidence. Any good or bad experiences with it, or similar drugs?

So, school's starting and I want to try out some Adderall. Anyone have any experience using it? Any tips on how to get it? Any websites? Any way to get it without a prescription?

This shit is amazing /sci/. I went from a horrid GPA to fucking all A's for an entire year now. Inb4 OP is stupid, yeah yeah. I'm no genius I get it.

But why doesnt everyone take this stuff? Imagine if actual geniuses did take it! We should pour this shit in the water mains!. We'd be colonizing Mars in 20 years :p
