/sci/, I know this is a ridiculous question, but after all these years i've forgotten about inequality rules.

So tell me, when do you change the </> signs? Is it only when you're using a negative number to divide, or is it also when you're dividing a number? ie

using number to divide: 5 + 3x > -4
3x > -9
would you switch the sign when x > -3?

and the other situation
-3x > 9
