Geologist here. my job says they'll pay for a masters degree and I was thinking of focusing on statistics.

Is statistics a good M.S.?

Also remember, the key difference is fieldwork. You have to do camping and mapping in shitty conditions to complete a geology degree. google 'geology field camps' if you want to know more. You will likely be traveling out to work sites and examining the area.

I am an applied mathematics fag but I have deep interests in geophysics esp. where it intersects with hydrology. I respect you breh.

Nature is beautiful. The Rothman Group at MIT does some cool work.

where i'm from you pretty much get hired once you get your degree. If you're more of a math person geophysics is the way to go. both diverse fields with lots of demand

What is the culture like in your field, /sci/? Especially/preferably if you are at the graduate level or beyond.
