Had an idea today.
How possible would it be to make an air conditioner/heater combo that takes advantage of endothermic chemical reactions (for summer cooling) and then exploiting the saved energy for exothermic reactions in the winter. How possible does that seem?

I'm not sure if this is the right place to come to even though it's a science based board, but I'm really not that great at Biology. I'm just wondering if any of you who are studying/generally good at Biology could help me out with a problem which should be quite basic.

I'm just wanting to know why the mitochondria is important in the role of the production of insulin, other than producing ATP.

Any help would be appreciated.

Asians are smarter and better at techniques than everyone else.

Niggers are just physically strong, and great at running.

Hispanics have crazy endurance and can live in any shitty condition.

Indians are smelly.

Whites/Europeans are...?

Could you build logical gates (like NOR , NAND , NOT and so on) without transistors?
Like a battery made out of limes.

Just wondering if it's possible to build something like an adder or only a flip flop with fruits or something else.

k so in recent years weve managed to take a good decades worth of progress,take it back a notch and make it more accesible to people who arent technologically savvy (Apple products) no i understand that it works for the moment,but i was thinking,is it going to reach a point where we cant make a siomple GUI or nice fluffy user friendly system that the average person can use,all my friends are of the 'Go back to nature and a simpler existence' camp,i suspect this is because they are particularly intimidated by how fast all the technology around them is developing and how they cant keep up,im not a transhumanist,but i am a tech geek,an im just wondering what /sci/'s view on this will be,will there be a cultural split where people really cant keep up with the technology,and they have to stay behind,while those who understand keep moving forward?

Ok /sci/ heres the deal:

- take some liquid helium

- put it in a container of some sort and seal the whole thing to keep the gas pressurized

-> forever cold

prove me wrong!

The effects of Gravity propagate at c. So, in something like a large glass object, or the sea, or anything transparent, gravity will propagate faster than light, correct? And any amount of light travelling through space would likely be subject to the effects of gravity here and there?

Well this talk of betelgeuse exploding (bullshit though it is for the time being) got me thinking;
If there was some way of detecting the almost 0 gravitational effect that betelgeuse has on us, would it be possible to detect it exploding very slightly before we see it optically?

this really has no purpose, I've just not thought about physics for a while and would like to know if I'm making sense. Apparently they'd detect the huge stream of neutrinos hours before anyway.
