Don't draw lines as perpendicular when you don't want them to be. That's just being misleading for the sake of it.

Angles ACB = ADB (subtended by common chord AB)
Angles CAD = CBD (subtended by common chord CD)
Angles BXC = AXD (BD and AC are straight lines intersecting at X)
Thus, triangles AXD and BCX are similar. Hence, x/4 = 4/8 and so x = 2.
