Pastafag Cs major here, and lately I just feel that I need to vent about thread subject.

>books
So far all I have learned in class is 100% available, sometimes in greater detail, online. I spent exactly 0€ on books, since all of them (even the ones from years ahead of mine) are ALL available online for FREE. everytime I need a book i just boot up my pc, open my browser, type the name, author and maybe the year of release, and poof the entire fucking 700 page book of Computer Architecture, ripe for downloading.

>Professors
the teachers are a mixed bag and all suffer from the same problem. Some are among the best teachers I ever had, others either can't teach or are unbelievably lazy.
the problem they suffer from is plagiarism. NONE of the shit they teach is 100% original and made from the ground up. Maybe a few excercises, and a few personal experiences here and there. Otherwise, just spouting what the books say, sometimes word for word. I've been to lectures that have raised more questions than answer, and what is worse is that most of those questions have either been rudely dismissed, told that "You know the answer" or just ignored. Best example is when during a functional programming lecture i asked the prof. what the compiler would do in that situation(dumbass question i know but i didn't know any better, i had started maybe 2 weeks prior to that) and she went on an absolute screeching triad about how I knew nothing about functional. I knew better than to ask questions since then

I could easily go on a rant about classmates but let's say i hate them all and leave it at that
TL;DR : uni is not worth the money. It is unoriginal , generic and more like a gamble that costs 3 of the best years of
your life.

That being said, I need a degree

Do smarter people burn out quicker?

Are they more likely to mentally deteriorate and go senile, due to the enhanced brain function when in health?

I'm basically relating it to cars. A car with more miles on the clock would mean it wears away quicker.
