France/Canada/Scandinavia

I know France is definitely the place to go for 'free' university degrees. Canada has Ryerson which is the 12th best in the world for Engineering degrees and similar scores for other subjects and Scandinavia is all-round awesome.

+ Solar power is relatively easy to set up, minimal operating costs and produces no excess waste while in the process of power generation. People do not mind solar panels next to their house. But if it's nuclear, they do.
+ And you can put solar practically anywhere where the sun shines.

I'm still waiting for fusion.

A difference of a few hundred kilometers is hardly noticeable with constellations. It would be quite hard pinpointing our position.

My plan involves more of the building of these cities incognito away from the populated towns. Once completed we will establish a border and reveal ourselves to the world, calling on every scientist, engineer, artist, and smart person in general to come down to here to fulfill their dreams. We will declare war on Australia by sending a message to the Queen. The very day after we will say we have stopped the war. Most likely the borders will be a fair bit smaller than what I show, but we will be very open about that this is an experimental system and if it works well we want to share it with the rest of the world. Most Queenstownians and Zeehanians will look at our kickass cities and either move there or insist with their councils to join with our country. Opening up a massive trade business with Australia where they give us the materials/minerals necessary and the automated systems fashion them into extremely high quality products will most likely pacify their government. The bottom line is that Tasmania is a pretty great piece of land but they're not doing any sort of serious development on it.

And if that doesn't work, fuck them all.

You cannot into celestial mechanics. Attempting to go toward the sun will slow down the spacecraft and the sun's gravity will pull it in.

Build space elevators with docking capabilities, you dont need to get the spacecraft to the ground.

I would like you to search and tell us of a meteorological or geological event that will happen in the next couple of weeks. I don't think telling us about that would change how air patterns work, no?

I was thinking of this earlier today, but of a country that doesn't exist yet, and a bit later down the track.

/sci/, just running an idea past you.
Would it be possible and profitable to attach parachutes and GPS tracking to fairly large metallic asteroids orbiting Earth (2m - 10m) and then send them flying towards Earth, braking fairly early on and drifting into a largish piece of land to be collected and refined?

According to Wikipedia on asteroid mining, estimates on 1 mile diameter rare-metal asteroids which are fairly abundant put it at around 20 trillion dollars. And those estimates were done in 1997.

Discuss.

I'm saying don't bother yet. There is no foreseeable niche to start a potential corporation for money generation. In about ~5 years that may change.

I have a theory /sci/.

You know when nebulae of gas form star systems and stars? Would it be possible that gas giants form but don't get enough mass to start fusion or be brown dwarfs, but do not orbit any star? I think it would make sense since it would exhibit no gravitational mass on any stars so we can see it, and barely any light would be reflected off it.

Thoughts?

No I don't, silly boy.
Merely that an open mind and imagination is just as important if not more so, than working out the problems in the theories.
Ofcourse that is important aswell but without the open mindedness there wouldn't be many scientific problems to work with as we would all be mindless slaves to various religions and fighting wars all over the globe because the other religions are wrong and therefore must be evil- Oh wait.
