I love this guy. Many many people are missing the point. They hear one word like 'axiom', 'theism', or, shit, practically any word they think they grasp, and then they go on BATSHIT CRAZY tangents. Godel was speaking here, about the reliability of a system of knowledge. He was specifically describing the ways in which people formulate the bases for these systems. These bases are axioms.
I like this poster because he admits to the usefulness(durp for what?) of axioms and yet acknowledges that an axiom is, necessarily just a belief, and therefore, as empiricists, we must be ready to discard or alter an axiom if we notice that it introduces contradictions in our system of thought. Once one holds this position, one realizes that one's actions, then, are never done for some TRUE OBJECTIVE GOOD purpose, but rather for arbitrary motivations spurred by arbitrary beliefs.
The fact that all knowledge is founded on the arbitrary is not a bad thing, it's fucking hilarious: pick a story and believe that, but don't take it too seriously, be open.
