How does the brain work like?

Is there some sort of center of our conciousness that decides on which thoughts we should concentrate now or is it working as some sort of ellection by all brain parts?

Are parts responsible for calculations, learning and others constantly working and just give results while we focus on them (for example: am I subconciously thinking right now that 9*5=45 and (3x))' = 3) or are they switched on and off?

If we cut off a part of brain, does it think for a few seconds about whatever it was designed to think after separation with the brain or does it instantly turn off?

I turned 22 4 days ago.

When will I start getting dumber? I read intelligence peaks at 21, or at least the kind that lets you solve scientific problems. I have 3.5 years of engineering left.

I can't think of a better board for this neuroscience question.

Does there exist a dominating brain mechanic hypothesis.....Like, what is the leading theory which explains how our consciousness interacts with our subconscious or whatever is going on in our heads?

Greetings /sci/

I've exiled myself from /b/ in hopes of pursuing a higher education. I'm currently 24 years old and have started going over basic chemistry, biology, physics and mathematics textbooks.

After years of procrastinating I can't help but wonder if at this age my brain will be able to undertake a higher education.

I can see how this question stems from my years of procrastinating but would like to implore you for wisdom if my learning capacity is salvageable.

Thank you anons.

i-i.. is.. is it.. uhh.. normal to... "feel" your... brain? lately i've noticed that i'm able to focus on parts of my brain and actually feel them... with my brain. it's like im touching my brain with my brain - contact without contact of another body part: like, let's say, one part of my brain would be a hand and another part another hand... and they're touching... that's the feel.

since i started thinking about this (well maybe not so much thinking, more like acknowledging), i've started feeling all kinds of complex sensation in the brain mass that i identify with certain events going on in there (learning, dehydration, chemicals, etc) - a certain brain feel appears when i do this certain thing i assume is directly connected to that part and (maybe as a result) feel of the brain.

???

Wassup /sci/. I'm sure that I am not the only above-average intelligience person that has the opinion that school is as boring as shit and I'm not learning anything. The problem is that I actually want to learn, just not about the shit that high schools teach. What are some topics that I should research? So far I have: Quantum Physics, Virology, Philosophy and Ethics, World Religions (Interesting shit like Mayans and etc. none of that Jesus bullshit), and History of the Russian revolution.
