What are some good supplements that have been proven to work?

Somewhere in the lines of omega 3, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, etc..

So I read a lot of psychologists are becoming more and more 'hostile' towards the usage of neuro-imaging as a tool to show what's really going on. The same psychologists claim that neuro-imaging techniques oversimplify the nature of certain neurological disorders. They also claim neurologists underestimate social non quantifiable stimuli and its impact on how people behave.

Should neuro-imaging techniques receive the same unreliable status the polygraph has in court rooms? What's you opinion /sci/?

I'm arguing with a friend about something.

Lets say you have this special power:
1. You are able to use telekinesis. Its extremely strong and you are able to move really heavy stuff with ease.

Now... lets say you would go to a tv-show (or something like that) and prove your abilities. It is 100% clear that this is no fake for everyone. Scientists approach you and want to analyze your body, but you refuse.

What do you think would happen? It is possible to continue your life how you want if you are that kind of a special human?

I find it hard to focus sometimes. I have too many thoughts going on at once.

Does anyone have any personal methods for clearing one's mind? Tips and Tricks?

A physics colloquium I went to last Spring semester was given by a professor studying the role of chaos theory in explaining the brain. I'll give you a brief greentxt intro into what Chaos Theory is.

>A sufficiently complex system may be dictated by deterministic forces, but its state may not be predictable over a relatively short period of time due to the slightest unkowns (see butterfly effect). Small changes can lead to cascades of change. A nonchaotic system is effectively predictable over long periods of time. However, systems aren't always exclusively chaotic or nonchaotic.

By experimenting with electrical stimulus across still living brain cell slices from mice, he found electrical induced electrical impulses lead to a cascade. The few cells that were stimulated by the current caused many cells across the brain to be activated, but it wasn't exactly chaotic. It fit into the mathematics of the border region between chaos and nonchaos.

The brain is on the edge of chaos. Your consciousnesses is from moment to moment is dictated by what neurons are active. Those neurons cause adjacent neurons to fire and the so on. The path of this causal chain is dictated by your brain's unique structure, which it itself has evolved over the years to in response to what you have thought about and experienced (regions of the brain you use more tend to have more connections).

You guys know about meds and stuff right?

Bipolarfag here- currently on 10 mg/day Abilify and 1500 mg/day Lithium. Used to be on hella Zyprexa, which made me gain 50 pounds, taking me from 165 to about 215. Used to be fit as hell. I assume the meds I'm on now are helping to maintain the weight. How much harder is it going to be for me to lose 50 pounds when I'm on this shit than it would be for a person not taking anything? How fucked is my metabolism? /fit/ was not too helpful.

TL DR- on bipolar meds- can I lose weight?

I have a theory about time traveling with your consciousness. Basically, moving your consciousness back through time by will.
I know it's crazy and its most important part(near the end) is just an assumption, but I'd still want to hear your personal opinion about it.

The theory goes:
-We perceive time as flowing, and flowing forwards, because of our memories. We've gained this ability through evolution, so we could reason things better, or at all.

Anyways, because proportionally with time, our brain gets more and more complex, alike to following the Moore's law, we can use this if we want to change the direction in which our consciousness flows.

If one could, with proper meditation, make himself forget things by the reverse order he learned them, his consciousness would flow back in time during that time. And when he stops doing it, at the time when his perception of timeflow starts going in reverse, at the very moment, he could get clear view on the illusion of how we perceive time, and maybe travel with his consciousness at any direction he wills, while concentrated.

So what do you think?
