Rushton, Jensen and others from the hereditarian camp have estimated the average IQ of Africans in Africa to be around 70 points.

Yet Africans in the UK are scoring nearly two SD above this, with IQ scores of 94 points (UK norms) which translates to 92 points on Lynn's scale. This is on par with the average Lynn calculated for some Western countries, such as Ireland.

Obviously there is some selection going on, but the UK isn't conducting IQ tests at the border to allow Africans in, to explain such a huge gap through selection alone Africans in the UK would ALL have to belong to the smartest 2.2% fraction of the population (2 SD above average), with no one from the remainder 97.8% of Africans being allowed in, which makes no sense.

More remarkably against the selection argument, there have been IQ tests conducted on the students of African universities in Africa, Rushton tested the IQ of students at an elite African university in the most developed African country and reported that it was only around 85 (others being lower, in the high 70s). So even if ALL Africans in the UK were from the university-attending African elites, it wouldn't explain the gap. The socioeconomic environment, however, does explain the difference.

Also important is to note that pure black Africans in the UK and the US do much better than African-Americans, even though African-Americans have significant White admixture. Again this goes against the genetic argument, it's the opposite of what would be expected from a hereditarian perspective.

When you break down Africans in the UK by nationality, several of them actually outperform Whites, such as the Ghanians or the Nigerians. Not only that, but they outperform in all metrics, with the biggest gap reported in Maths.

Africans living in Africa have the same IQ White Americans had in the 1950s. When they are brought to a Western standard of living they can indeed outperform whites, as the example of Africans in Britain shows.
